Robert L. Smith is a recording engineer and record producer in New York City who recorded[1] the first #1 iTunes hit for Fon TV show Glee with a cover version of Katy Perry's song Teenage Dream. Smith recorded this all vocal performance with producer Tommy Faragher, Glee actor Darren Criss and the Tufts' mens choir, Beelzebubs. Glee's version of Train's "Hey, Soul Sister" was recorded by Smith, as well, and became a Top 10 hit at iTunes.
Smith has also worked on recording projects with Lady Gaga, Aerosmith and David Bowie.
His Emmy-nomination was earned for the documentary Full Battle Rattle with composer Paul Brill, for which Smith was the sound recordist and sound mixer.
Smith has his own music production company called Defy Recordings.[2]
